About Haneda Autos
Haneda Autos is a used engine and transmission supplier based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We sell to drivers, independent shops and rebuilders across the United States who need a working unit rather than a project, and we ship nationwide on freight.
Most of what we hold is imported from Japan, where cars come off the road early and the engines inside them still have most of their service life left. We also carry Korean and European units, and we are building out Harley-Davidson motorcycle stock. Everything passes through our warehouse on Monroe Ave NW before it is listed.
Why Japanese units
Japan retires cars early. The shaken inspection gets more expensive as a vehicle ages, so cars come off the road while the engine is still sound. An engine pulled from one of those cars has done a fraction of the miles you would find in an American car of the same year, and it has never been opened up.
That is the whole business. We buy at auction and from dismantlers in Japan, container the units over, and inspect them when they land.
What happens before a unit goes on the site
- It comes off the container and gets logged with its own stock number. Every listing on this site is one physical unit, not a model you order from a catalogue.
- We check it over, turn it by hand, and look for the things that matter: coolant in the oil, scoring, damaged mounts, cracked housings, bad seals.
- We photograph the actual unit from every side, including the parts people usually want to see before they commit.
- It gets listed with the engine code, the model years it suits, and the price. When it sells, the listing closes, because there is only ever one.
What we will tell you straight
A Japanese market engine is not always the same as the US version of the same engine. The block is usually identical. The intake, the loom, the sensors and sometimes the oil pan are where the differences show up. If the unit you are looking at needs something swapped over from your old engine, we would rather tell you before you buy than argue about it after.
We also will not sell you a unit that does not fit. Send us the VIN and the trim level and we check it against what is actually on the shelf.
