Warranty

Every engine and transmission we sell carries a 90 day warranty that starts the day the unit is delivered to you. This page explains exactly what that covers, because a warranty you have to guess at is worth nothing.

What is covered

  • The internally lubricated parts of the assembly. On an engine that means the block, crankshaft, bearings, pistons, rods, head and valve train. On a transmission it means the gears, shafts, bearings and synchros.
  • Failures that come from a fault in the unit itself rather than from installation or use.

What is not covered

  • Labour, removal, reinstallation, towing, fluids, gaskets and consumables.
  • Wear items and external accessories: sensors, alternator, starter, water pump, timing belt and chain components, clutch, pressure plate, seals, hoses, wiring and injectors.
  • Damage caused by overheating, running the unit low on oil or coolant, detonation, modification, racing, or forced induction added after purchase.
  • Any unit that was installed without replacing the timing components, water pump and seals.
  • Units installed by the buyer at home rather than by a licensed shop.

What we need from you

Three things, and a claim moves quickly:

  • The invoice from the licensed shop that installed the unit, showing the date and the stock number.
  • Proof that the timing components, water pump and seals were replaced during installation.
  • A written diagnosis from that shop describing the failure.

How a claim works

  • Call us on +1 503-551-4892 or email before any further work is done on the unit. Do not strip it down first.
  • We review the diagnosis and, where needed, arrange inspection.
  • If the claim is valid we replace the unit with an equivalent one from stock where we have it, or refund the purchase price of the unit. The warranty covers the part, not the labour.

Before you install

This matters more than anything else on this page. These are used units with real mileage on them. Replace the timing belt or chain, the water pump, the thermostat and the seals while the unit is out on the bench. It is a few hours and a small parts bill at that stage, and it is the difference between an engine that runs for years and a warranty claim.
