Vehicle Fitment

This engine is a direct replacement for the following BMW F30 models:

• BMW 320i / 320i xDrive: 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

• BMW 328i / 328i xDrive: 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

• Note: While the N20 was used in the Z4, X1, and 5 Series, external accessories and oil pan configurations may vary; please verify your specific sub-model requirements.

Installation & JDM Swap Notes

To ensure a successful installation and maintain BMW’s performance standards:

• Timing Chain Guide Update: We strongly recommend inspecting or replacing the timing chain guides and tensioner with the updated BMW components while the engine is out of the vehicle.

• Component Transfer: You must transfer your original US-spec wiring harness, fuel injectors (if coded to your ECU), and sensors to ensure the vehicle’s computer recognizes the new engine without error codes.

• Fluids & Seals: Use only BMW Longlife-01 (LL-01) certified 5W-30 or 0W-30 synthetic oil. Replace the valve cover gasket and oil housing gaskets before installation to prevent common leaks.

What is included

You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.

Before you order

• Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
• Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
• Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
• Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
