About this unit

Engine and gearbox package from a Japanese market Mitsubishi GTO twin turbo, the car sold in the US as the 3000GT VR-4. The 6G72 is a 3.0 litre DOHC 24 valve V6 running a pair of turbochargers, paired here with the Getrag five speed manual and all wheel drive.

What is in the package

• Engine and transmission together. Buying the pair is the sensible route for this swap. The AWD drivetrain, bellhousing and clutch setup are matched, and sourcing them separately later is slow and expensive.

• Turbochargers as photographed. Both turbos, manifolds and the accessories visible in the pictures come with it. Anything not in frame is not included.

• Loom and ECU are not assumed. Ask before ordering if you need them. Japanese market wiring and engine management differ from the US car.

Before you order

The five speed and the later six speed are different gearboxes with different mounting. Confirm which your chassis is set up for. Send the VIN and what you are putting it into and we will tell you straight what bolts in and what you will need to move across. Covered by our 90 day warranty.

What is included

You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.

Before you order

• Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
• Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
• Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
• Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
