Vehicle Fitment

This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American BP/BR Generation models:

  • Subaru Outback (Non-Turbo): 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011

  • Trims: 2.5i, 2.5i Basic, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited

  • Compatibility Note: This engine is for SOHC AVCS models. Please verify your original engine has the AVCS solenoids on the cylinder heads. Not compatible with 3.0L/3.6L H6 or 2.5L XT Turbo models.

JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide

To ensure 100% compatibility and a “Plug-and-Play” installation into your USDM Outback, professional installers must follow these “External Swap” steps:

  1. Intake, Exhaust Manifold & Sensors: You must swap your original USDM Intake, Exhaust Manifold, PCV Valve and all sensors (MAP, TPS, etc.) onto the JDM block. JDM wiring plugs often differ from US-spec harnesses.

  2. AVCS Solenoids: Ensure the JDM AVCS solenoids match your USDM plugs; if they differ, transfer your original USDM solenoids to the JDM heads.

  3. Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your vehicle’s original USDM Engine Wiring Harness.

  4. Oil Pan & Dipstick: Inspect the oil pan; if it differs in shape or depth, swap your USDM pan and oil pickup tube to ensure proper ground clearance.

What is included

You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.

Before you order

  • Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
  • Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
  • Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
  • Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
