Vehicle Fitment
This transmission is a direct mechanical replacement for the following North American models:
Toyota Corolla (SE, XSE, Nightshade): 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 (Sedan & Hatchback)
Toyota Corolla Cross: 2022 (FWD Models)
Compatibility Note: This is the K120 variant for the 2.0L Dynamic Force engine. It is not compatible with the 1.8L 2ZR-FE engines found in the L, LE, or XLE trims, nor is it compatible with Hybrid models.
JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide
To ensure 100% compatibility and a seamless integration with your Corolla’s high-tech ECU, professional technicians recommend the following “External Swap” steps:
Transmission Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Input, Output, and Speed Sensors to the JDM unit. This ensures the electrical signals perfectly match your North American wiring harness.
External Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Transmission Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses may have variations in plug orientation or length based on right-hand drive configurations.
Neutral Safety Switch: Transfer your original USDM Range Sensor (Neutral Safety Switch) to ensure the shifter gate and dash indicators remain 100% accurate.
Fluid Requirement: You must use Toyota Genuine CVTF-FE fluid. The K120 Direct Shift CVT is highly sensitive to fluid viscosity; using non-genuine or generic CVT fluid can lead to launch gear engagement issues.
Oil Cooler & Lines: Inspect the JDM cooler ports. If the bracket offsets differ, swap your original USDM Transmission Fluid Cooler and lines to the JDM unit.
ECU Learning: After installation, a “CVT Fluid Pressure Calibration” and “G-Sensor Zero Point Learning” must be performed with a professional-grade scan tool to ensure the launch gear transitions smoothly.
What is included
You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.
Before you order
- Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
- Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
- Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
- Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
