Installation & JDM Swap Notes

To ensure a successful installation and maintain the longevity of this engine, please note the following professional tips:

  • Component Transfer: You should transfer your original US-spec intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and external sensors to the JDM long block. This ensures 100% compatibility with your existing wiring harness and ECU.

  • Oil Pan Check: Depending on the donor vehicle (some JDM units come from different chassis), you may need to swap your original oil pan and pickup tube to ensure proper clearance for the front differential.

  • Preventative Maintenance: While the engine is out, it is the best time to replace the front and rear main seals, water pump, and thermostat to prevent future leaks.

  • Ignition Tune-up: Even though the engine includes a distributor, installing a fresh distributor cap, rotor, and spark plug wires is highly recommended for optimal performance.

What is included

You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.

Before you order

  • Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
  • Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
  • Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
  • Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
