Long Block & Transmission Installation Notes

PRO-TIP: To ensure a “plug-and-play” experience and keep your OBD2 system happy, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Keep Your USDM Harness: Use your original 1996–2000 USDM engine wiring harness. JDM harnesses are often cut or configured for Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles.

  2. Distributor & Sensors: Swap your original USDM distributor and intake manifold sensors (like the IACV and TPS) to ensure the plugs match your factory harness exactly.

  3. Transmission Prep: Inspect the clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. We recommend installing a new clutch kit while the transmission is separated from the engine.

  4. Maintenance Essentials: Before installation, replace the Timing Belt, Water Pump, and Front/Rear Main Seals. These are much easier to service while the engine is on a stand.

  5. Fluid Requirements: Use Genuine Honda MTF (Manual Transmission Fluid) and a high-quality 5W-30 oil for the break-in period.

What is included

You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.

Before you order

  • Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
  • Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
  • Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
  • Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
