USDM to JDM Swap Information

This JDM 2AR-FE long block is designed as a direct replacement for the USDM Scion tC 2AR-FE engine.

For a successful installation, it is recommended to transfer the following components from your original USDM engine:

  • Intake manifold
  • Exhaust manifold
  • Engine wiring harness
  • Fuel injectors
  • Throttle body
  • Sensors (camshaft, crankshaft, knock, coolant, etc.)
  • Alternator
  • A/C compressor
  • Starter
  • Engine mounts (if necessary)
  • Power steering and accessory brackets where applicable

Depending on the production date of your vehicle, minor sensor or emissions component differences may exist. Reusing your original USDM electronics ensures full compatibility with your factory ECU and emissions system.

Installation Notes

  • Professional installation is strongly recommended.
  • Replace the timing components if wear is present before installation.
  • Install new spark plugs, accessory belts, thermostat, and water pump while the engine is out.
  • Flush the cooling system before installation.
  • Change engine oil and install a new OEM oil filter.
  • Verify all sensors and connectors before startup.
  • Prime the lubrication system prior to initial engine start.
  • Inspect clutch or torque converter while the engine is removed.
  • Transfer all required USDM emissions equipment to maintain factory functionality.

You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.

Before you order

  • Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
  • Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
  • Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
  • Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
