Important Swap Information

This JDM 2AZ-FE engine is designed as a replacement for USDM Toyota RAV4 2.4L applications. Some external accessories and emissions components may vary between Japanese and North American vehicles.

For proper installation, it is recommended to reuse the following components from your original USDM engine:

  • Intake manifold
  • Exhaust manifold
  • Throttle body assembly
  • Fuel rail and injectors
  • Engine wiring harness
  • Ignition components
  • Engine mount brackets
  • Sensors and switches
  • EGR system components (if equipped)
  • Water neck and coolant fittings

ECU & Wiring Compatibility

  • Retain the original USDM ECU.
  • Reuse the factory engine wiring harness.
  • No tuning is typically required when replacing a USDM 2AZ-FE with a JDM 2AZ-FE engine.
  • Verify sensor and connector compatibility before installation.

Emissions Compliance

  • JDM engines may not include identical emissions equipment found on USDM vehicles.
  • Transfer all required emissions-related components from the original engine.

Before you order

  • Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
  • Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
  • Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
  • Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
