Nissan Versa (Sedan – S, S+, SV, SL trims): 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

CRITICAL APPLICATION NOTE: This transmission is configured strictly to fit the 1.6L HR16DE engine. It will NOT fit older 1.8L Versa models (MR18DE engine) or any manual transmission configurations. Please verify your vehicle’s exact engine size and current transmission type before completing your purchase.
CVT Transmission Installation Notes
CRITICAL SERVICE ADVISORY: Compact Nissan CVT gearboxes operate under high hydraulic pressures and are extremely sensitive to debris contamination. To protect your investment and secure your parts warranty, your installer must follow these rules:
Transfer USDM Electronics & Sensors: JDM core wiring harnesses are configured for right-hand drive (RHD) vehicle floorboards and overseas module communication codes. You MUST remove the JDM external wiring sub-harnesses and swap over your original vehicle’s transmission wiring harness, external neutral safety switch, and all input/output vehicle speed sensors.
Mandatory Transmission Cooler Flush: When a compact CVT fails, it sheds microscopic metallic debris directly into your radiator cooling loop. You MUST thoroughly hot-flush the transmission cooler lines and external fluid heat exchanger before installing this replacement unit. Failing to do so will wash old metal flakes into your clean JDM unit, destroying its intricate valve body solenoids instantly.
Seating the Torque Converter: Ensure the included torque converter is fully slotted and stepped down into the internal fluid pump engagement splines before sliding the bellhousing against the 1.6L engine block. If forced together when misaligned, you will warp or crack the internal oil pump gear.
Change Out External Seals: Take advantage of the transmission resting on the shop floor and replace the front pump input seal along with both the driver and passenger side differential CV axle seals to ensure leak-free operation.
Strict Fluid Requirements: Never use standard automatic transmission fluid (ATF) or incorrect CVT oil formulations. Refill the transmission casing exclusively with Genuine Nissan NS-3 CVT Fluid. Using aftermarket generic or low-grade multi-vehicle fluids will cause rapid internal belt breakdown, erratic pulley pressures, and will immediately void the parts warranty.
What is included
You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.
Before you order
- Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
- Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
- Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
- Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
