Vehicle Fitment
This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:
Nissan Altima (Base, S, SV, SL): 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
Chassis Compatibility: L33 Generation (2.5L Models Only).
Compatibility Note: This is the QR25DE. It is not compatible with the 3.5L V6 (VQ35DE) models or the older 2007–2012 L32 Altima without modifications to the intake and sensor ports.
JDM to USDM Installation & Swap Guide
To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your Altima’s emissions and drivability, professional Nissan technicians recommend the following “External Swap” steps:
Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions often differ in vacuum port layouts and lack specific emissions bungs required for North American OBDII compliance.
Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your Altima’s chassis bulkheads or ECU.
Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors. Nissan electronics are highly sensitive; using your original “known-good” sensors prevent intermittent signal issues or Check Engine Light codes.
Crank Pulley: Inspect the JDM crank pulley. If the belt-rib count or diameter differs, swap your original USDM Crank Pulley to ensure perfect alignment with your alternator and A/C compressor.
Water Housing: Swap your original USDM Water Outlet and Thermostat Housing to ensure all radiator and heater hoses align perfectly with your North American cooling system.
Flywheel/Flexplate: Ensure you use the USDM Flexplate to maintain proper spacing and engagement with your Altima’s CVT transmission
What is included
You receive exactly what is pictured. Engines are supplied as a long block assembly with the components visible in the photos. Accessories such as the alternator, starter, intake manifold or sensors are included only where you can see them on the unit, so check the photographs before ordering and ask us if anything is unclear.
Before you order
- Confirm the engine code against your own vehicle, not just the model year.
- Japanese market units can differ from the US version in intake, loom and sensors.
- Replace the timing components, water pump and seals while the unit is out. It is cheap insurance on an engine this age.
- Keep your original accessories until the swap is finished and running.
